K.G. Russell - Last Dance

Crown Ruler revisits the work of Jamaican-born, Toronto-raised musician K.G. Russell with three selections from Dance With Me. Recorded in 1988 with Tony Cameron and Orville Malcom, the self-produced album first appeared on Russell’s Rain Sound imprint as a cassette in 1990. Last Dance brings these recordings to vinyl, remastered by Daniel Elleson. The title track combines boogie with a hypnotic dancefloor feel; 'Talk To Me' connects electro rap and smooth jazz, while 'Dance With Me' turns towards soul balladry. Drum machines, synthesised textures and Caribbean influences give the three pieces their shared character.
