About this release
Lee Wilson’s Do Better brings his vocal into a synth-led boogie arrangement for Dippin’ Records. The song’s message of self-improvement sits over a thick bassline and uplifting chords, giving the recording a direct, upbeat character. The flip offers the monolog Reprise by Yuki Kanesaka, who plays the vintage analogue instruments himself and reshapes the song with a heavier funk emphasis. The two treatments keep Wilson’s performance at their centre while taking different routes through the rhythm and instrumentation. This seven-inch pairs the main song with the monolog version, bringing both approaches together in a compact two-track release.
