About this release
Lionmilk wrote, produced and performed every instrument on When The Flowers Bloom, his first album for Stones Throw. The 12-track record follows different emotional states through changing musical settings, from the lo-fi approach of ‘Only One’ to the instrumental jazz tribute ‘Tom Is In Heaven’. ‘Não Mais Saudade’ turns towards the Brazilian idea of longing, while ‘Get High’ addresses heartbreak. Born Mokichi Kawaguchi, the pianist, composer and producer draws those personal stories together around family, trust and growth. The album keeps a light touch even in its sadder moments, closing its two-sided vinyl programme with ‘Family’.
