About this release
South Street Soul brings two selections from Maxi's self-titled 1977 Blue Note album to a seven-inch single. Lover To Lover combines soaring vocals with a detailed string arrangement and the relaxed pulse of a soul two-stepper. The track later provided material for Tom & Jerry's Maximum Style. On the reverse, Maxi interprets the Van McCoy-written Walk Softly, giving the record a second vocal soul selection from the same album. This official reissue puts both tracks together in a smaller vinyl format, keeping the focus on Maxi's singing, arrangements and the original recordings.
