About this release
Powerline's Journey combines a sustained bass groove, drums and keyboard details with percussion and guitar, gradually working towards its piano melody. The recording is a collaboration between Andy Sojka and Jerry Pike, with mastering credited to Herb Powers. Its jazz-funk and disco approach connected with DJs including François Kevorkian, David Mancuso and Larry Levan, linking UK productions with American club listening. This Mr Bongo 12-inch brings Journey, the sax mix and Double Journey together. The sax version was previously commercially unreleased when this edition appeared.
