About this release
A Boy And A Dream EP selects four tracks from Tashif Kente’s 1991 album, bringing the South African singer’s blend of street soul, boogie and new jack swing to a twelve-inch. Tell Him I Became Your Lover leads with an animated rhythm, followed by Somebody’s Got My Love. The flip moves into the synth-led soul of Who’s That Boy before closing with I Like The Way You Love Me. Produced by Kente and Selwyn Shandel, with Marc Rantseli also involved, the recordings combine drum machines, synth bass and keyboards with Kente’s vocals. Heels & Souls licensed the tracks from Gallo and commissioned remastering by Justin Drake.
