About this release
Soul Is My Salvation Chapter 7 brings together two early-1980s gospel recordings selected by Tone B. Nimble. Spiritual Souls' We Came To Show You The Way opens the single with a rhythmic vocal approach that moves towards early rap. Heaven's Sound follows on the reverse with Fire, connecting gospel singing and jazz-funk instrumentation. Originally recorded in 1982 and 1984 respectively, the two selections show different ways that church-rooted music crossed into dance rhythms. This Rain & Shine seven-inch is part of the eight-chapter series, with a sleeve that joins Charlotte McCrae's wider design when the set is assembled.
