About this release
Eccentric Funk draws twelve cuts from the Numero Group archive, putting drums, guitar figures and tightly worked grooves at the front. The selection runs from Swithold's Slowburner and Human Race through to Willie Wright's Right On For The Darkness, with Village Crusaders, Hot Chocolate and Mickey & The Soul Generation along the way.
It's a compilation built around the rhythmic detail that makes deep funk useful to dancers, DJs and beatmakers alike. Harvey & The Phenomenals, Duralcha and The Young Senators sit alongside less familiar names, bringing different shades of funk together on one LP.
