About this release
Selected by Saint-James, In The Red Volume 2 gathers six Britfunk recordings from 1981 to 1988. The compilation focuses on the meeting of jazz-funk and disco in British music, with reggae and dub techniques reflecting the Afro-Caribbean communities central to the movement. Stikki Stuff, Cruzial, Potion, The Breakfast Band and Yeow Band contribute tracks built around synthesizers, slap bass, vocals and horns. Scratch, also known as Gonzalez, closes with Keep On Searching For Love. Chuwanaga's vinyl release includes an insert with photographs and information about the selection, placing the music alongside its history.
