About this release
Express Yourself and Just Kissed My Baby bring together recordings by the Watts 103rd St Rhythm Band and The Meters. The first side centres on Express Yourself's vocal message and a direct funk groove, while The Meters' recording on the reverse develops its rhythm through the band's instrumental interplay. Both tracks have also reached later audiences through hip-hop sampling, with N.W.A. drawing on Express Yourself and Public Enemy using Just Kissed My Baby. A's & Bee's presents the two recordings as a remastered 7-inch pairing, placing a different group on each side of the record.
