About this release
BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah join forces on ‘Sour Soul’, pairing the Toronto group’s live instrumentation with the Wu-Tang Clan rapper’s storytelling. Working with producer Frank Dukes, they draw on the recording techniques and musical atmosphere of the sixties and seventies rather than building the backing from samples. The resulting arrangements give Ghostface a cinematic setting, with guest verses from Danny Brown, Elzhi, Tree and MF DOOM. Short instrumental pieces sit alongside the vocal tracks across the twelve-song sequence. This Lex Records LP contains the complete collaborative album, from ‘Mono’ through to ‘Experience’.
