About this release
Mos Def's Black On Both Sides brings sharp storytelling, soulful melodies and jazz-influenced production together on his 1999 solo debut. Moving between personal reflections and social commentary, the album captures the breadth of the Brooklyn MC's writing and musical imagination.
From the storytelling of “Ms. Fat Booty” to the warmth of “Umi Says” and the intricate rhymes of “Mathematics”, this is a hip-hop record with room for both close listening and heavyweight beats. This double vinyl edition presents the full 17-track album across two records.
