About this release
Fela Kuti and Africa 70's 1975 album pairs two extended performances, Expensive Shit and Water No Get Enemy. The title track turns Fela's detention following a 1974 police raid on Kalakuta Republic into a story told with humour and defiance. On the reverse, Water No Get Enemy provides the album's other long-form statement, giving the band room to develop its interlocking Afrobeat rhythms. This standard black-vinyl edition is part of Knitting Factory Records' reissue programme, returning the original two-track album to LP. The record captures Fela and Africa 70 during a particularly productive period in their work together.
