About this release
Beauty & The Beat connects with São Luis in Maranhão through four recordings by Loopcinico, the group of Luiz Claudio, Beto Ehong and Lobo Siribeira. Originally released on their 2013 CD for Na Music, the tracks combine live percussion, electronic programming and vocals shaped by local rhythms. Leonidas and Vidock add three remixes, extending the recordings into new rhythmic settings. Vidock's version also features guitar and bass from Ludovic Gagnepain. Mastered and cut by Frank Merritt at The Carvery, this double-vinyl edition places the originals and remixes across four sides, with the first record playing at 33rpm and the second at 45rpm.
