About this release
Saigon Soul Revival explore the Vietnamese rock and soul sounds of the 1960s and 70s on Mối Lương Duyên, their second album for Saigon Supersound. Eight original songs sit alongside three reinterpretations of nhạc vàng, drawing together bolero, jazz, psychedelia and Vietnamese ballad traditions.
Nguyễn Anh Minh's vocals lead arrangements that bring đàn tranh, đàn bầu and đàn nguyệt into the band's sound. The title loosely translates as 'destiny', with songs exploring love, loss and the encounters that shape a life. Recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, the album connects Saigon's musical past with a contemporary band writing its own chapter.
