Jon Hassell - The Living City [Live at the Winter Garden 17 September 1989]

The Living City captures the Jon Hassell Group at New York's World Financial Center Winter Garden on 17 September 1989, performing within an audio-visual installation while Brian Eno mixed the band live. The recording documents a period when Hassell's Fourth World music absorbed ideas from hip-hop production, sample collage and the studio techniques of Teo Macero. Loops, instrumental performances and electronic interventions form a shifting, dub-informed sound. Ndeya's double LP was cut by Stefan Betke and comes in a gatefold sleeve with printed inners, archival images, commentary and a download card.
