About this release
Minas' Num Dia Azul combines bossa nova, samba and jazz-influenced MPB in recordings made in North Carolina by Patricia and Orlando Haddad. Originally released in 1983 on their own Blueazul imprint for the Brazilian market, the album reflects their musical partnership after graduating from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Its warm, relaxed arrangements move from the title track through Sinal Verde and Só Danço Samba to Choro Sambaião. Mr Bongo's edition follows the original album's audio and packaging approach, presenting the seven-track vinyl programme. The music keeps its Brazilian roots while capturing a recording made far from Rio.
