Ogassa - Ogassa Original (Vol 1)

Acid Jazz continues its exploration of Benin's Albarika Store catalogue with Ogassa's first album, originally issued in 1978. The Porto Novo group's Ogassa Original (Vol. 1) was recorded at EMI's Lagos studio, linking the band's Beninese roots with one of the region's established recording centres. Four extended selections make up the LP: Avale and Ogassa Story on the first side, followed by Production Vido Tche and Gbe We Gnin Wa Bio. This reissue restores the complete album and its original artwork, offering a focused introduction to the group's Afrobeat and funk recordings.
