Os Novos Crioulos and Supersom T.A. share a Mr Bongo seven-inch devoted to Brazilian samba. Mar Afunda comes from Os Novos Crioulos' self-titled 1976 album on Pirata Records, bringing relaxed guitar, cuíca and layered vocals into a samba-rock setting. On the other side, Brasileira Roxa pairs female and male voices with keyboard accents and cuíca. Originally issued as a Fermata single in 1972, it complements the first track's easy movement with its own bright arrangement. The two recordings offer different takes on the same dancefloor-friendly Brazilian tradition.
