About this release
Recorded in Paris in 1971, Folksongs & Ballads pairs Tia Blake’s unadorned voice with spare acoustic guitar arrangements and occasional kena flute. The eleven-song album draws on Appalachian and British folk traditions, giving ballads and songs of loss an intimate, understated setting.
Opening with Betty & Dupree, the record moves through Black Is The Color, Single Girl and I’m A Man Of Constant Sorrow before the B-side’s Rising Of The Moon, Hangman and Polly Vaughn. Ici Bientôt’s vinyl reissue presents these performances with a four-page booklet.
