Alfa Mist - Variables

Variables brings Alfa Mist’s jazz writing, hip-hop rhythms and vocal melodies into a set concerned with the path that brought him to this point. His fifth album and second for ANTI-, it moves between ensemble playing and the intimate production approach that has shaped his music since Nocturne. Kaya Thomas-Dyke appears on Aged Eyes, while Bongeziwe Mabandla joins Apho. Longer pieces such as Foreword, The Gist and BC sit beside concise songs and interludes. Produced and mixed by Alfa himself, the album gives improvisation and recurring piano figures an equal place in its structure.
