About this release
Issued in 1979 on Allan Wachs' own True Vine imprint, Mountain Roads & City Streets gathers a decade of songs written while hitchhiking along America's west coast. The Oregon songwriter's stories of brief affairs, invisible dogs and a changing country are coloured by pedal steel, flute and dulcimer. Numero Group's clear vinyl edition brings these ten recordings together, from the opening Adventures of the Invisible Dog to Northwest Passage. The music sits between folk, country and the broader Cosmic American tradition, with Wachs' journeys supplying both its subject matter and its sense of place.
