About this release
Aphex Twin's Richard D. James Album pairs intricate, restless rhythms with melodies that are by turns playful, tender and unsettling. Originally released on Warp in 1996, it opens with the tumbling drums and bright strings of “4”, setting up a record in which rapid changes of pace rarely disturb the sense of melody. “Cornish Acid” and “Fingerbib” carry that balance of mischief and warmth through the first side, while “Girl/Boy Song” gives the second side another sharply drawn meeting of percussion and tune. This vinyl LP contains the original ten-track album.
