D'Angelo - Voodoo

D’Angelo’s second album moves through soul, funk and hip-hop with loose, deeply worked grooves and an unhurried sense of space. First released in 2000, Voodoo draws on the musicians around the Soulquarians collective while keeping his voice and playing at its centre. DJ Premier contributes to ‘Devil’s Pie’, and Method Man and Redman appear on ‘Left & Right’. Elsewhere, ‘Spanish Joint’, ‘Chicken Grease’ and ‘Untitled (How Does It Feel)’ show the range of a record that rewards listening beyond its singles. This double-vinyl edition includes all thirteen tracks, closing with ‘Africa’ on the fourth side.
