About this release
Dave Lee revisits the disco-rap tradition behind his 1988 Back To The Old School compilation with four newly reworked cuts for Z Records. TJ Swann's Get Fly appears in an Uptown Lowdown Mix, followed by Terry Lewis & Wild Flower's The Peoples Message, Take Two in the Unity Mix. Mike T's Do It Anyway You Wanna brings saxophone, flute and slap bass into the Jazz Funk Revival treatment. Clocktower Of Power complete the record with Hornsey Vibes in its No Rapstrumental Mix. The selection connects early rap vocals with boogie, funk and disco arrangements, keeping the original songs at the centre of Lee's updates.
