Deetroit - It's From A Dream

In the 12 years that have now passed since Deetroit made their debut, we still don't know the identity of the publicity-shy producer behind the project. While it doesn't particularly matter, it would be nice to able to assign due credit for the artist's first album-length excursion for eight years. Apparently based on jam sessions with synths, drum machines and choice effects, it's attractively tactile, melodious and lightly futurist approach offers nods aplenty to Detroit's own Mike Huckaby, Chicago deep house great Mr Fingers, the more trance-inducing Motor City deepness of Omar-S, and late vibraphone master Roy Ayers. Genuinely inspired mystery retro-futurism that's well worth your time and money (especially the raw, sub-heavy, acid-flecked deep jack of 'People Mover To The Phuture').
