Dizzy Reece - Star Bright

Jamaican-born trumpeter Dizzy Reece recorded Star Bright after moving from London to New York in 1959. The session places him in a hard-bop quintet with Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone, Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. Six pieces, including The Rake, Groovesville and Variation On Monk, give the group room to develop its interplay around Reece’s lead voice. This stereo Blue Note Classic Vinyl edition is all-analogue, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
