Running Back brings two Don Laka recordings into fresh focus, with edits from Prins Thomas and Gerd Janson alongside an original version. The South African composer and keyboard player's music combines warm synthesizers, jazz-funk phrasing and an easy rhythmic pull, giving both editors plenty to work with without crowding the arrangements.

Prins Thomas extends ‘Stages’, allowing its synth lines and groove to develop at a more leisurely pace. Gerd Janson reshapes ‘I Wanna Be Myself’ for a contemporary DJ set while keeping the song's personality intact. The original ‘Stages’ completes the twelve, making this a useful introduction to Laka's studio sound as well as a practical set of versions for the dancefloor.
