About this release
Skin 'N' Bones is Dub Oven's three-track EP, originally self-released in San Francisco in 1983. Gary Miles and Blaise Smith formed the project with vocalist Celeste Miller, combining their electronic and new wave backgrounds with influences from Jamaican dub. Recorded at L7 Studios with Marco Perry, the music uses analogue electronics and instrumentation to bring together soul vocals, funk rhythms and more abstract production. Music From Memory's reissue presents Skin 'N' Bones, Dub Oven and Millions Of Sensations on 12-inch vinyl. The original programme captures the group's attempt to connect dancefloor music with the experimental sounds around them.
