About this release
Shadrack Ndlovu and Ernest Segeel made Taduma as E&S Brothers at the start of South Africa's bubblegum era. Recorded with Dane Stevenson and producer Taso Stephanou at Johannesburg's Blue Tree Studio, the album follows the duo's Don't Bang The Taxi Door single, with session player Dr Buke on keyboards.
Synths and drum machines drive the six tracks, while the vocals move between English and local languages in a rhythmic, almost rapped delivery. Taxi Door and Mhane sit alongside Sikele Masike, which reworks a traditional Shangaan work song. Afrosynth's reissue restores this 1985 album from the original tapes.
