Elbernita Twinkie Clark - Awake O Zion

South Street Disco brings together two recordings by Detroit gospel singer and organist Elbernita 'Twinkie' Clark. Awake O Zion comes from her 1981 album Ye Shall Receive Power and appears here in its full-length version, giving the gospel-disco recording a dedicated twelve-inch release.

Power occupies the reverse, with the organ taking a central role. The pairing draws directly on Clark's gospel work while making room for the dancefloor appeal that has brought these recordings into the sets of DJs including Hunee, Antal and Sadar Bahar. Two complementary selections from her solo catalogue, presented one per side.
