ESG - Come Away With ESG

ESG's Come Away With ESG makes a little go a long way. The Bronx group's debut is built around taut basslines, spare drums, percussion and direct vocal hooks, finding its movement in the space between the parts. Its meeting of funk and post-punk helped shape the sound of dance music well beyond the New York scene.

Across eleven tracks, the record moves from the title track and Dance to the stretched-out groove of Moody (Spaced Out), with brief instrumental pieces giving the album its distinctive rhythm. This Fire Records vinyl edition brings together an enduring set whose stripped-back arrangements leave every bass note and drum hit exposed.
