Amerigo Gazaway brings Fela Kuti's Afrobeat recordings together with De La Soul's vocals on Fela Soul. Built from samples of Fela's catalogue and acapellas spanning the group's career, the project finds common ground in jazz, funk and hip-hop. Horn phrases and layered percussion give familiar verses a different rhythmic setting, with Gazaway's arrangements drawing the two musical worlds together.

Stakes Is High and Trouble In The Water open the record, followed by guest appearances from Redman on Oooh and MF DOOM on Rock Co.Kane Flow. The second side moves through Much More, Breakadawn and the Gorillaz collaboration Feel Good Inc., before closing with the bonus track Still Ego Trippin'.
