About this release
Finn Rees and SHOLTO’s Love In Memory / Bluebell grew from a meeting in London into two recordings made over two days at SHOLTO’s SFJ Studios. The pair used Wurlitzers, Mellotrons and ribbon microphones through a seventies Studer desk, drawing on a shared affection for cinematic arrangements and analogue textures. Their influences include Piero Piccioni, Piero Umiliani and Henry Mancini, heard in the music’s melodic, orchestral character. Clementine Brown contributed string arrangements, with Matthew Hayes playing bass on Bluebell. Mr Bongo brings the collaboration together on a 7-inch single, placing Love In Memory on the first side and Bluebell on the reverse.
