Four Tet - Morning / Evening

Four Tet gives each side of Morning / Evening room to unfold as a single extended piece. Released on his own Text Records label in 2015, the album draws together the warmth of sampled voices, detailed electronic rhythms and the spaciousness of ambient music. This is the 2023 vinyl repress.

Morning Side builds around a looping vocal and a steady pulse, with small changes in percussion and texture gradually shifting the mood. Evening Side takes a more open route through drifting electronics before rhythm comes further into focus. Produced by Kieran Hebden between August 2014 and February 2015, the two pieces reward an uninterrupted listen, letting their melodies and layers develop over the length of a record side.
