About this release
Gang Starr’s Full Clip / DWYCK brings two DJ Premier and Guru recordings together on a Street Knowledge seven-inch. Full Clip pairs Guru’s measured delivery with a rolling bassline, clipped drums and a guitar-led loop, giving the A-side an immediately recognisable late-1990s feel. DWYCK takes the flip into a heavier, more stripped-back groove, with Premier’s scratching and the vocal exchanges at the centre of the arrangement. The pairing puts two distinct sides of the duo’s sound into a compact DJ format: the relaxed bounce of Full Clip and the more insistent rhythm of DWYCK.
