Gayance - Mascarade

Gayance, the project of Montreal-born Aïsha Vertus, brings broken rhythms and personal stories to Rhythm Section with Mascarade. Her debut album reflects on her twenties and the Afro-diasporic feminine experience, drawing together UK garage, Detroit and New York house, and shades of blues, jazz and gospel. Guests from Montreal join the record, including Janet King, Hua Li, Sarah MK and Judith Little D. Across eleven tracks, the dancefloor passages share space with more reflective songs, connecting Vertus' background as a DJ with her own production and songwriting.
