Janko Nilovic - Soul Impressions

Soul Impressions is Janko Nilović's 1975 library album, reissued here by Underdog Records. Its twelve compositions bring together funk, psychedelic textures and the composer's jazz and orchestral background, reflecting the breadth of the French library music tradition in which he worked.

Hippocampus and Open Country open the first side, while the title track, Drug Song and Man Of Genius form part of the wider album programme. This is the full-length LP, with six tracks on each side, rather than the two-track seven-inch drawn from the same sessions. A useful entry into Nilović's catalogue for listeners drawn to the meeting of arranged instrumental music and funk.
