About this release
Transas Do Futuro is a four-track EP by Brazilian singer-songwriter Jarbas Mariz, recorded in 1977 and first released through Belém's Erla – Estudio Rauland label. Its music moves between MPB, psychedelic rock and folk, with flute-led passages giving way to distorted guitar and rough-edged arrangements. Guilherme Coutinho contributes electric piano, adding another texture to the small-scale recording. This Mr Bongo 7-inch reissue preserves all four songs across two sides, from the title track and Quero Jogar Cartas Com A Humanidade to Paragominas and Merece Ser. The music reflects the experimental character of the regional Brazilian scene in which it was made.
