About this release
The Jimi Hendrix Experience's Hollywood Bowl performance was recorded on 18 August 1967, five days before Are You Experienced appeared in the United States. Opening for The Mamas & The Papas, Hendrix, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell played a set combining their own songs with material by The Beatles, Howlin' Wolf, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters and The Troggs. Purple Haze, Fire and The Wind Cries Mary sit alongside Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Like A Rolling Stone. Eddie Kramer restored the two-track recording for this release, with Bernie Grundman mastering the album. The ten-track programme includes the introduction.
