Johanna Knutsson - Dingsbums Homage

Johanna Knutsson conceived Dingsbums Homage as a single piece in two movements, each occupying one side of this Patience release. The Swedish producer’s ambient and electronic work comes to the fore, with ‘Bernsteinsee’ gradually introducing soft keys, a gentle rhythm and synthesised strings. ‘Beilsteinerstrasse’ follows with piano, reversed fragments and an ascending arpeggio before returning to a quieter finish. The long-form structure allows each section to develop without rushing its transitions. Known for both techno records and ambient live performances, Knutsson uses this setting to explore the more drifting, contemplative part of her sound.
