About this release
The Only Way continues Kaidi Tatham's exploration of broken beat, funk, jazz and boogie across eleven tracks. Released through First Word Records in 2023, the album opens with Reason We're Here, moving from a soft introduction into synth-led bruk rhythm. Uhmeer joins the title track, while Feels Like I'm On My Own shifts from jazz-funk into Brazilian choro. Trian Kayhatu appears on Alien @$^%, and Matt Lord contributes to the closing Not Suffering. The vinyl LP brings these guest performances together with Tatham's instrumental pieces and short interludes, connecting his keyboard playing and production through the album's changes in rhythm and arrangement.
