Lady Jane - Here I Am Baby

Athens Of The North reissues Here I Am Baby, the only studio album by Detroit soul and funk singer Lady Jane, born Jane Brice. Recorded at Studio A in Dearborn Heights with engineer Eric Morgeson and privately released in 1980, the album returns newly mastered from recovered tapes.

Jane's voice moves from the opening title ballad into the heavier funk of Never Lived In The Ghetto and Space Flight. Soul, funk and disco run through the seven tracks, ending with She's A Star, the one song on the album she wrote herself. This reissue brings a long-overlooked record and its singer back into focus.
