Lars Bartkuhn - Dystopia

Lars Bartkuhn’s Dystopia grew from improvisations with modular synthesizers, acoustic instruments and hand percussion, made without computer sequencers or an electronic drum kit. Light overdubs complete some pieces, but the album retains the flow of its original performances. The Needs Music co-founder connects his jazz and classical background with ambient electronics, allowing a narrative to emerge across the eight tracks. The three-part Disembodied Journey forms a central passage, while Into The Waves brings the record to a gentler conclusion. A late-1970s painting by Franz Deckwitz supplies the cover image for this Rush Hour release.
