About this release
Nuova Napoli finds Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina looking back towards the city where they grew up. Working from Berlin, the duo researched the disco, jazz-funk and cross-cultural sounds that shaped Naples during the 1970s and 1980s. Synthesizers, acoustic instruments and voices in Neapolitan dialect connect that history with their own production. A wider group of musicians, including players from the contemporary Neapolitan scene, contributes to the seven-track album. Released through the duo’s NG Records imprint, the record moves from its opening title piece through Je Vulesse and Ddoje Facce to the closing Parev’ Ajere.
