About this release
Nyboma Mwan’dido’s ‘Doublé Doublé’ brings interlocking guitar melodies, bright horns and rhythmic bass-and-drum playing to the Congolese soukous and rumba tradition. Originally released in 1981, the album gives his vocals room to unfold across four extended songs. The title track and ‘Papy Sodolo’ occupy the first half of the programme, followed by ‘Kabanga’ and ‘Asso M’Bele’. No Wahala Sounds presents the recording again on a single vinyl LP, keeping the focus on the ensemble’s melodic interplay and Nyboma’s singing.
