Trombonist Phil Ranelin and saxophonist Wendell Harrison bring the legacy of Detroit's Tribe collective to the sixteenth Jazz Is Dead release. As founding members of Tribe Records, both helped establish an independent platform through which musicians could record, promote and release their own work. Here they join Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad for a seven-track album, with Genesis, Running with the Tribe and Fire in Detroit among the selections. This independent-store edition is pressed on blue vinyl, connecting two of Detroit's long-standing jazz voices with the Jazz Is Dead series.
