About this release
Piero Umiliani's To-Day's Sound was conceived as a collection of contrasting pieces for television use. Originally released as a double album in 1973, it moves through jazz, funk, electronic textures and easy listening, with Umiliani's Moog, Hammond and keyboard work linking the different settings. The ensemble includes Franco D'Andrea, Giovanni Tommaso, Oscar Valdambrini, Silvano Chimenti and Ciro Cicco. Open Space introduces the record's more psychedelic side, while Caretera Panamericana foregrounds the synthesizer and Green Valley brings a gentler soul character. This Schema reissue presents the album's full programme across two records, retaining the variety central to Umiliani's library writing.
