About this release
Compiled by John Gómez, Origens Da Luz surveys recordings made by São Paulo composer and multi-instrumentalist Priscilla Ermel between 1986 and 1994. Cello and guitar form part of a wider instrumental language that brings together synthesisers, field recordings and instruments gathered through her work with communities in Brazil. Her studies with Taoist teacher Liu Pai Lin also informed the music’s unhurried pace. The fifteen-track selection moves through pieces such as Campo De Sonhos, Cristal De Fogo and the extended Corpo Do Vento, bringing acoustic and electronic sound into close contact. This Music From Memory edition spans two LPs in a gatefold sleeve.
