About this release
Ray Fernandez and his family band bring Miami's Cuban music scene into conversation with funk, soul and psychedelia on this 1973 album. Latin rhythms run through the record alongside salsa and Afro-Cuban influences, while the group's use of bass clarinet gives the arrangements a distinctive instrumental voice. The nine-song programme moves from La Señorita Lola and Venimos Acabando to Cookie Crumbs, Sunny and Soul Freedom, reflecting the band's broad musical range. On High Records presents a remastered vinyl edition of the album, preserving a set that connects Cuban dance music with the funk and soul sounds of its era.
